Sustainability and TTE

Our pledge on sustainability and the environment

As an organiser, we have become increasingly aware of our responsibility to reduce the negative impact of our everyday actions, as well as our events.
By starting our journey into becoming more sustainable and environmentally friendly, and by partnering with suppliers who are also on this journey, this is our pledge.

3-step plan:

  • We pledge to reduce printing and consumables where possible

  • We pledge to work with suppliers who show the same commitment to the environment that we do

  • We pledge that our Sustainability Team meet each month to discuss new ways to improve our commitment and implement those changes throughout our business and events

Recycling and reusing

Some initiatives already in place:

  • Our venue sends zero waste to landfill; 98% of waste at our events (coffee cups, sandwich packaging) is separated and recycled and the final 2% is used as waste for energy.

  • All of the paper we use for direct mail or leaflets is recycled or recyclable and is FSC or PEFC Certified. We no longer use polybags to send mail out in a bid to reduce our plastic waste.

  • The lanyards we supply are made from bamboo and are bio-degradable. We will continue to provide collection points at the exits of the event to encourage recycling of lanyards so they can be reused.

  • Our show guides are printed on FSC approved paper and are recyclable. In the future, we are looking to move our show guide to an app to remove this paper waste completely.

  • In our offices we recycle paper, plastics, bottles and food waste.

Other initiatives:

  • We encourage visitors and exhibitors to our events to bring a water bottle to fill up at catering points for free to reduce plastic waste, and to bring a go-cup to avoid single-use coffee cups.

  • We pay a charge to the provider of our chauffeur transfer service for hosted buyers to carbon offset the service.

  • Uber, the official ground transport partner of the show, charge a Clean Air Fee per ride.

  • We will work with environmental charities to raise awareness and help with donations at our events where possible. For Business Travel Show and Travel Technology Europe 2020, we partnered with the Woodland Trust and asked visitors and exhibitors that printed their badges onsite to make a voluntary donation.
